A snake shedding its skin. A phoenix rising from the ashes. Whichever metaphor you prefer, Scorpio, for you 2022 is all about letting go of what no longer serves. With the South Node and two eclipses in your sign (lunar May 15, solar October 25), it’s time to shed old identities that you’ve outgrown—and release old obsessions that only drain your energy.
It can be scary to let the dead weight fall away, especially when you’re not sure yet what new life will take its place. Fortunately, though, with Pluto as your ruling planet, you’re no stranger to cycles of death and rebirth. As Pluto continues moving slowly through Capricorn, you’re deep in the process of restructuring your life from the inside out—paying special attention to how your thoughts, words, and energy impact your immediate environment.
With Venus retrograde in Capricorn at the beginning of the year (until January 29), you may also be reevaluating relationships with neighbors, siblings, cousins, and other relatives. Leave no stone unturned, Scorpio! Because once Venus gets moving direct again, her conjunctions with Mars and Pluto (February 16, March 3) will empower you to make whatever changes you desire. Remember, though, that loving people as they are makes it much easier to transform these situations for the better.
At times, this may be easier said than done. With Saturn staying put in Aquarius this year, feeling stuck—physically and/or psychologically—will be a familiar emotion for you. Circumstances may be keeping you closer to home, with family responsibilities falling on your shoulders. But Scorpio, you don’t have to carry the weight alone. As Mercury, Venus, and Mars spend considerable time in Aquarius (January through mid-April), teamwork makes the dream work.
Besides staying connected with family and friends, the best thing you can do for yourself in 2022 is to practice healthy habits. Jupiter in Aries (May 10-October 27) gives you extra energy to burn, so you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of positive outlets. Take the initiative to start a new diet, exercise plan, or self-care regimen. With Chiron also in Aries, you might even begin learning how to practice a new healing art.
If 2022 was a romantic comedy, it might be called “How Scorpio Got Their Groove Back.” Jupiter in Pisces (December 28, 2021-May 10, 2022; October 27-December 20, 2022) is bringing more romance, pleasure, and creativity into your life—just when you need it the most!
Even long-term relationships can be full of surprises, as a Jupiter/Uranus sextile (February 17) brings unexpected and unusual date-night opportunities. As Jupiter joins with Neptune (April 12), you may even be inspired to “go big” with an over-the-top romantic gesture. But make sure you’re really in love with the person—not just in love with love.
With so much Pisces energy floating around, boundaries can get a little slippery. Fortunately, Jupiter’s sextile with Pluto (May 3) helps to clear up the confusion. Rather than using romance to escape from everyday reality, let your love enrich all the other areas of your life.
After all, Scorpio, for you it’s all or nothing. It’s no secret that you’re an intensely loyal lover, and with the North Node and two eclipses in your opposite sign of Taurus (solar April 30, lunar November 8), committed relationships are a major focus for you this year. Perhaps counterintuitively, though, the best way for you and your partner to grow closer might be giving each other more space. This isn’t exactly in your comfort zone. But with Uranus also in Taurus, relationships are one area where you don’t want to get too comfortable!
Mercury in Taurus (April 10-29, May 22-June 13) asks you to rethink how you’re doing relationships. Chances are, there’s something that needs to change—and if so, Mercury in Gemini (April 29-May 22, June 13-July 4) urges you to address the elephants in the room. Maintaining a sense of humor and curiosity makes it easier to get real about emotionally charged topics, like sex, money, and power dynamics.
Once Mars moves into Gemini (August 20, 2022-March 25, 2023), you won’t just be talking these issues out—you’ll actually have the energy to work them out. Even better, Scorpio, you might be feeling braver and bolder in the bedroom. Add some novelty and variety to spice up your sex life!
Work and wellness go hand-in-hand, Scorpio. And in both of these areas, establishing good habits is the best way to set yourself up for success. Fortunately, as Jupiter blesses your sixth house this year, you’ll have ample opportunities not only to improve your job performance, but also to increase your wellbeing in the workplace.
Jupiter in Aries (May 10-October 27) gives you the energy and enthusiasm to tackle any task. But his tendency to expand everything he touches means that your workload could be expanding as well. While this might be a welcome opportunity to earn some extra money, it’s also an additional source of stress. So be careful not to take on more than you can manage—and don’t wait until you’re feeling burned out to take a break.
Your career really gets cooking in July and August, as Mercury, the sun, and Venus in Leo trine Jupiter in Aries. Work is especially fulfilling at this time, affording more opportunities to express yourself... and attract some positive attention in the process. But work/life balance is likely to be a challenge, with the Leo planets making hard aspects to Uranus in Taurus (your relationship house) and Saturn in Aquarius (your house of home and family).
This is particularly true if you’re working from home—which, with Saturn in your fourth house, is a definite possibility in 2022. It’s important to make clear distinctions between when you’re on the clock and when you are not. If possible, designate a specific area in your home that’s only used for work. Or, use simple rituals to separate work time from family or household-chores time.
Put these healthy habits in place, Scorpio, and by Sagittarius season (November and December), you’ll start to see them pay off! Just keep your eyes on the prize when it comes to your financial goals, as impulsive purchases could be a temptation at this time.
