Birdy experiences its inner life as a process of growth and maturation, nurtured by its involvement with others and the positive and negative encounters this generates.

Birdy leads a life which is open to the outside world. Its personal consciousness is forged by the heat of outer events. It is inclined to adopt the most objective viewpoint possible to be pragmatic and perhaps even materialistic.

Birdy is attracted to interpersonal activities, but has a significant need for inner security. Since she is highly receptive to other people’s inner natures, she seeks tight bonds with them. She unconsciously needs their psychological support in her quest for herself. If she evaluated her psychological development, she would place more value upon human warmth, intimacy, and the need to share than upon intellectual understanding or personal freedom of expression.

Birdy is ambitious and has a natural tendency to better herself socially and intellectually. Her ideas and aspirations are grandiose, and she will be eager to share them with others. Although she is kind-hearted, she enjoys being in control of situations. She derives great fulfillment from the role of the protector and will surround herself with people who need her. She is eager to obtain recognition and honor, but extremely fearful of disgrace. Her visions derive from her ambitions, often aglow with idealism. However, they may be somewhat unrealistic and impractical. Social recognition and esteem are essential to her, and she will demonstrate an amazing ability to achieve the high goals she sets for herself.

Birdy approaches life pragmatically. She bases her judgements on past experience and is prone to skepticism. She takes pride in her own endeavors and has a personal concept of her productivity. Her possessions help her assert herself as an individual and act as an antidote to any feelings of insecurity. As a result, material accomplishments may preoccupy her more than either love as a passion or intellectual or philosophical considerations. Nevertheless, she becomes attached to anything which offers her certainty.

You work hard to understand other people’s feelings, but you find it difficult to empathize with them. You see the emotional world as a foreign territory, full of hidden dangers. Becoming familiar with it would be a risk, because it might be risky to let yourself feel what you feel. You might struggle to establish a relationship with someone, because you are afraid of getting close to anyone. You have a strong desire for emotional independence, and might be the first to deny that other people’s emotions are real. As a result, your dependency on others is unconscious. It’s seen as a threat, so it’s repressed. In fact, you are always making half-conscious forays into the emotional world, because your loneliness and fear are so unbearable.
