Critical advice Aquarians must not forget…
Itisn’t because you’re aging that you can’t remember birthdays! Depending on your smart phone to remember phone numbers, GPS to remember how to get from Point A to Point B, and the Cloud for everything else just makes your brain lazy! Flex those mnemonic muscles!
Squish a stress ball. Subjects in tests did better at recalling lists of words when they squeezed a stress ball in their right hand while memorizing and in the left while recalling.
Eat more omega-3s. The fatty acids may improve short-term memory.
Exercise. Studies show that breaking a sweat increases hippocampus volume in all stages of life.
Drink coffee. Caffeine may aid a hormone that helps the brain consolidate information.
Areas Aquarians need to protect from injury…
Aquarius rules the shins, calves, and ankles, and you can be prone to injuries in these areas. If punishing workouts or too many hours spent in uncomfortable shoes have wreaked havoc on your feet and legs, the new, brightly colored elastic therapy tapes can ease pain and look good at the same time. Apply them along muscles, ligaments, and tendons for support and relief from overuse injuries. Tape ankles for stability, tape the calf for Achilles’ tendon pain, or apply the stretchy stuff under the arch and along the inner shin if you suffer from shin splints.
Are you getting the right amount of salt in your diet?
Sodium chloride is associated with your sign. Your body needs it—and it makes food taste better—but that doesn’t mean you should overindulge! Too much, say from salty hors d’oeuvres or chips, makes your body retain water, which can leave you looking like a puffer fish! Dilute the salt in your body by drinking lots of water or other caffeine-free fluids, like peppermint tea (which will also ease any tummy troubles if you’ve overindulged). And to keep fluids from building up in your face overnight, sleep propped up on a few pillows.
Should Aquarians jump right in or keep it platonic for a while?
Aquarius is the sign of friendship. You’re an outgoing, magnetic charmer and a socially oriented people watcher. Free of malice and accepting of all, you take others at face value, no strings attached. You attract friends and stay loyal to them. Always ready with a bon mot, you have a gift for making others laugh. You can rub shoulders with people from all walks of life, but you’re unimpressed by money or title. To you, friends are as important (if not more) than lovers. Any potential partner would be wise to become your good friend first. That’s the surest way into your heart!
Gems that can heal and boost Aquarians’ moods…
Open-minded and curious, many natives of your sign are interested in alternative therapies and the metaphysical. If you’re drawn to crystals and their reputed properties, you couldn’t do better than to begin with amethyst and lapis lazuli, both associated with Aquarius.
All-purpose amethyst is said to calm and sharpen the mind, ease insomnia, lower stress, help headaches, and reduce bruising and swelling. Try placing one of these purple beauties under your pillow to promote restful sleep.
Lapis lazuli is said to help concentration and ease migraines. Crystal powers or not, these gems are gorgeous, so wear them and be dazzling!
Desperately single? Not an Aquarius!
You’re an enigma, a strange combination of amiability and detachment. You’re everyone’s best friend, yet does anybody really know you? You need space—to think, to wander, to dream, and to absorb life’s sometimes hard lessons. At times that means distancing yourself emotionally and physically from others. Space gives you (and any partner) time to breathe and center yourself so that you can return as affectionate as ever, ready to forgive and forget. Take care that your alone time doesn’t lead to isolation. You can have a partner, spend quality time together, and still respect one another’s independence.
How to be in the right place at the right time, Aquarius…
You’re such a social butterfly! You’re interested in all kinds of people—oddballs, geniuses, extremists, the sweet neighbor down the street—and you can find something to talk about with all of them. But like Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, you could spend all your time studying humans rather than really getting to know them.
To find love, you’re going to have to make an effort. You’re a joiner, so look for a club or group where you can meet like-minded computer geeks, sci-fi aficionados, or environmentalists. Maker Faires, Comic-con, and Sierra Club events are good bets!
Why a thrift store may be better than the mall for you…
Unconventional, idiosyncratic, trend setting—they describe your approach to life as well as your clothes. Button-down suit? No way. Prim pastel dress? Nope. Retro ’60s mini with clunky “ugly” shoes (so much kinder to ankles than stilettos)? Now we’re talking. There’s a reason that iridescent turquoise and electric blue are linked to your sign! Acid-bright purple, fluorescent orange, neon green—you could find a way to wear them to a formal dinner and get away with it because you couldn’t care less what others think. If it’s casual, distinctive, and maybe a bit shocking, it has “Aquarius” written all over it!
Water Bearers may be the most valuable employees…
You’rean excellent and charismatic communicator. Your symbol, the Water Bearer, is forever pouring information and answers from a never-ending reservoir of knowledge. You like to help people and work in teams. If there’s a puzzle, enigma, un-cracked code, or seemingly insoluble problem, people call you.
Smart and creative, you come up with solutions that are so logical, simple, and elegant that you leave co-workers scratching their heads and wondering why they didn’t think of them! Where others see roadblocks, you plunge ahead—intrigued and unafraid—toward opportunities. You rock at work!
Clues you should start looking for another job…
Yourfixed nature means that it could take you a while before you find the career path that’s just right for you, but once you do, you’ll stick to it like glue throughout your working life. And that may or may not be a good thing. “Fixed” indicates persistence and self-reliance, yes, but it can also mean stubborn.
Make sure you can recognize when it’s time to let go and move on to a better opportunity. It isn’t that you cling to the comfortable so much as you find it hard to admit that your choice may not have been perfect! If you’re unhappy and don’t see room for improvement, start searching.
