The moon is the first dominant in Salish Matter’s astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
As the second light of the solar system, the moon has always been associated with the sun in the minds of men. The moon and sun are the primordial cosmic couple. This satellite of the earth, which mysteriously waxes and wanes, has been compared to the eternal feminine principle, the mother hovering over your infant’s cradle. Psychologically, the moon is thus symbolic of the mother and the mother image. This figure is a primordial element in the psyche of each individual. Depending on your nature, the mother figure may correspond to your biological mother, a grandmother, or a woman who cared for you in infancy and childhood.
When you reach adulthood, this mother-figure and all the emotions and bonds associated with you may be transferred to something else: a spouse, a companion, an institution, a church, corporation, or political movement, a cult, etc. In short, any individual or structure likely to take on the mother’s duty of caring for and nurturing the vulnerable aspects of an individual.
To be more down-to-earth, the mother figure corresponds to the habits which were learned and then definitively incorporated into the individual’s identity as you gradually became acculturated and progressed toward social independence. As a result, a strongly “lunar” personality often finds it difficult to adapt and is uncomfortable outside the secure setting of familiar routines.
Closely tied to your past, you may be unwilling to detach yourself from it and embark on your life as an individual in the here and now. You still identify somewhat with your inner child and may display a child’s capricious behavior, indulging in moodiness and indecision. Your passivity may make you easily influenced, your sensitivity makes you subjective, and you hesitate to open up and lay your soul bare. In your daily life, psychic activity will rule. Your imagination, memory, sensitivity, sensation, and sentiment nearly overwhelm your psyche.
Uranus is the second dominant in Salish Matter’s astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
Uranus is known as the “Awakener” and is associated with sudden changes, rebellion, and innovation. This planet rules over Salish Matter’s higher mind, and thus its influence is felt in matters of intuition, spirituality, and higher learning. Uranus also governs Salish Matter’s social interactions, and so it is significant in their ability to make friends and be a part of a community.
This planet symbolizes the principle of independence and self-sufficiency, as well as a principle of transformation. Its most striking characteristic is distance from others: the Uranian strives to stand out from the herd, distanced from structuring influences like convention, tradition, etc. Although this need to free yourself from the confines of convention, tradition, and family symbolizes an appeal for freedom and a desire to evolve beyond the bounds of physical limits toward a spiritual dimension, it may also correspond to a form of escape.
This is why Salish Matter sometimes needs to cut themselves off from situations or relationships which feel stifling to them. Their intense fear of being swallowed up psychologically causes them to react to certain emotional demands by making themselves remote or running away. They need a lot of space and frequent change. In a relationship, they are seeking a certain degree of intellectual excitement. Without it, they feel as though an unbearable, suffocating boredom sets in.
By refusing certain concessions to convention which are practically inevitable, Salish Matter may find themselves in unpleasant situations. Finding an intelligent alternative to the routine set by the rigid forms of the past is extremely different from rebelling against any form of authority, in the settings of family, school, business, or society. One of the major problems they have to solve is how to wield their freedom, in their emotional relationships, as well as their relationships with society.
Mars is the third dominant in Salish Matter’s astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
Salish Matter’s Mars is in the 3rd house. This gives them a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but also a short temper. They need to learn to control their anger, or it will cause problems in their relationships.
In the Greek tradition, Mars or Aries was the god of war. Traditional astrology associates Salish with the element fire, the color red, and the taste of bitterness. Although it also symbolizes the elder brother in the cosmic family, it is more likely to be associated with declared enemies or adversaries. Martian morphology is typically virile, angular, and athletic and corresponds to aggressive, domineering, masculine behavior. Likewise, Mars is usually associated with rage, its resultant brutality, and male destructiveness and domination.
Psychologically, Mars figures in any situation of conflict, opposition, and confrontation. Martian symbolism intervenes to separate, oppose, and decide and corresponds to duels, war, and any situation in real life which involves confronting an obstacle. Individuals who are greatly influenced by Mars are typically direct and straightforward—either unabashedly extroverted or furiously introverted. They are extremely active and extremely emotive. Their purpose in life seems to be inextricably mingled with a combat against an unacceptable situation, a challenge which they either issue or are forced to accept.
The sixth house is an area of the sky which is especially important in Salish Matter’s theme. In the following paragraph, we shall explain the general meaning of this fact.
According to tradition, the sixth house is related to health and Salish Matter’s relationship to their body. It is thus related to illness, hygiene, nutrition, and bodily care. More specifically, this area rules the various failures which Salish Matter encounter and accumulate in the course of their evolution, which are sometimes expressed as physical disorders like aches and pains, digestive problems, etc.
This area should thus be associated with the need faced by any individual to examine their ego, in order to consciously reorient and transform the behavior they have unconsciously adopted. Should Salish Matter refuse this reorientation process or try to flee from it, physical discomfort or suffering may set in as a sort of signal – the proof that the impurities of their ego are obstructing the natural flow of their life.
The difficulty Salish Matter face concerns their personal growth as a member of society. It shows that they are not yet ready to approach others appropriately, that they must tone down an inflated ego or beef up an insecure, weak ego. The importance of this area in their theme indicates that experiences related to work, duty, health care, self-transformation, and the continuous harvesting and re-planting of their energies and ego are fundamental and may have a major impact on their destiny.
Traditionally, astrologers associated this house with humbly serving others. We interpret this to mean that a person who has not consciously begun the work of reorienting their personality may be doomed to remain the slave of thankless tasks, to toil at subordinate functions deprived of privilege.
The fifth house is an area of the sky which is especially important in Salish Matter’s theme. In the following paragraph, we shall explain the general meaning of this fact.
