Consciousness and The Ideal of Self:
Shane Dawson is searching for stability. He wants to find a firm, unchanging structure for his life. But his efforts to achieve this ideal are often vain, because unconsciously, he is also inhabited by the opposite desire. Every time he reaches what he believes to be a good balance, he realizes he wants something entirely different. He should become aware that the concepts of stability and balance are difficult to apply to life. By definition, life is movement, change, and perpetual instability.
Shane Dawson has a paternal complex and, as a result, some trouble finding his identity. Perhaps his father or a father figure was absent physically or emotionally during his childhood, which deprived him of the patterns or models which are usually helpful in structuring a personality. Because he might have lacked a particular sense of security which could be provided by a paternal presence, as well as the examples of behavior to follow in confronting the difficulties inherent in every life, he was forced to protect himself against negative influences and find his own system in order to grow and feel secure.
Although this system was quite useful to him as a child, it has now settled in to such a degree that it interferes with his evolution. Psychological defense mechanisms and crutches which were once useful now encumber his mind or inhibit his developmental efforts. As a result, in certain situations, it is difficult for him to assert himself, and he tends to remain an awkward or passive observer. Because his authoritarian urges are mainly directed at himself rather than others, he sometimes feels guilty about his behavior. He judges himself severely, and sometimes punishes himself by setting difficult tasks for himself. Gradually, he should build up a strong inner discipline and acquire the strength to face the problems of existence in a detached and mature way.
Shane Dawson has great strength of character. His courage and endurance enable him to accomplish even extremely arduous tasks. Although he sometimes behaves impulsively, he generally knows how to plan out an effective strategy, and, as a result, he reaches his goals without meeting any major obstacles. His forcefulness gives him certain leadership skills, which he may implement to creative and constructive ends.
Shane Dawson has a great potential for creative, constructive accomplishments; however, it is sometimes difficult for him to gain access to this part of himself. He is confident in himself and life but may tend to be nonchalant. He sometimes needs a little stimulation to get himself rolling and take some initiative. His optimism and inner certainty do not always drive him to give his utmost efforts to achieve a goal. The communications skills he possesses are an advantage as well as a handicap. He makes use of his theatrical gifts, convincing eloquence, and ability to listen. The best careers for him would be teaching, communications, philosophy, the legal profession, theater, and public relations.
Shane Dawson is sober and rather reserved and may even strike people as harsh and austere at times. Perhaps he was raised in an atmosphere of rigor and sobriety, and, as a result, grew up very fast. He has acquired a spirit of self-sufficiency, tends to be rather uncompromising, and has a touchy sense of his personal dignity and worth. It is almost as though he were fighting an inner battle with his father or a father figure. The psychological models he received from his father or a father figure as a result of his interaction and his own interaction with authority may not have played a major role in shaping his relationships with the outer world and society. He may thus have been forced to compensate for this lack with individual determination.
As a result, although he is skillful, meticulous, conscientious, and efficient, a lack of self-confidence and personal assurance sometimes makes him timid and hesitant. He sometimes feels as though he is only masquerading as a respectable, sober adult. He tends to be far too critical of himself and rarely feels satisfied that he is living up to his ideal. These unnecessary guilt feelings may lead him to turn down the prominent career positions for which he is fully qualified. He is aware that early success is often short-lived and fragile and that time rewards those who know how to be patient and persistent, like him.
Shane Dawson is an ardent free thinker and individualist who is convinced that his most precious basic values are freedom and independence. He has thrown off what he perceives as the burden of the convention and customs of his social class and adopted an innovative lifestyle. His passionate convictions, bordering on proselytism, sometimes trouble his relationships, as he may be an uncompromising partner. He would do well to learn to recognize his own limitations and accept the responsibilities he has to other people, or he is liable to find himself continually embroiled in conflicting relationships.
The roots of his somewhat extreme behavior probably lie in his relationship with his father or his teachers in childhood and adolescence. For one reason or another, he may have rejected the paternal image or refused to identify with his father, in the same way as he now refuses to adopt any values related to convention, tradition, or widespread usage. In every important life decision he makes as an adult, he is forced to rely on himself to elaborate the appropriate behavior, and the limits he must impose on his desires in relation to reality and the law.
Adaptation and Sensitivity:
Extremely sociable, Shane Dawson is instinctively in tune with others. A need to be accepted and respected makes him tactful and diplomatic; in fact, he will sometimes swallow his personal pride in the interests of the smooth running of the group. He is also fond of harmony and order in artistic terms; he is sensitive and discerning, and will avoid anything crude and vulgar. As a result, he is sometimes offended by the harsh demands of existence. Relationships (the couple, or a partnership) take a central role in his life.
Shane Dawson’s intellect is lively, agile, and sensitive. However, Shane Dawson does not always avail himself of it and may be confused or irrational in some situations. Although Shane Dawson enjoys playing with words, ideas, and concepts, Shane Dawson’s thought sometimes lacks discipline and structure. Shane Dawson is fairly preoccupied with details and may tend to waste Shane Dawson’s nervous and mental energy in futile verbal outpourings. Moreover, Shane Dawson’s feelings sometimes blur Shane Dawson’s objective vision of phenomena and people, which may cause Shane Dawson to make errors in judgment.
Shane Dawson has a sensitive personality. He may jump to conclusions, which could disrupt relationships, as well as career plans. He is subject to cyclical energy flows and go from periods of feverish activity to periods of withdrawal and introspection. The aggressive element in his behavior may be explained by emotional problems he may have experienced in infancy: his mother, or a mother figure, may have had an energetic and volatile personality.
Optimistic and happy to be alive, Shane Dawson is a cheerful, expansive, pleasant associate to have. He is extremely generous (sometimes to a fault!) and gives of himself and his belongings unstintingly. This positive psychological outlook is the result of a happy childhood and especially an extremely beneficial maternal influence in infancy. He is quite likely to be a professional success; his vision of the world is perfectly adapted to prevailing opinion, and his urges and desires for personal expansion usually elicit a positive reaction from society. By old age, his good reputation and prominence may have earned him fame.
Shane Dawson is emotional and tends to react suddenly and excessively as soon as his sensitivity is touched. Although he feels that his independence, freedom, and self-sufficiency are fundamental values, he is sometimes frustrated by his need to rely on his family or friends. Moreover, he does not always grant the freedom of other people the same respect as his own. Likewise, he is sometimes angered by expressions of maternal tenderness, as if he feared that it would doom him to eternal dependency. His ambivalent behavior, full of jagged edges, may be traced back to the relationship he had with his mother or a mother figure. Although he was dependent on them, they may have rejected him. Now this attitude is extended to any situation in which his sensitivity comes into play and emotional bonds are liable to form. To ward off his feelings of dependency, he sometimes tends to become destructive. Based on denial, his reactions might be fierce, impulsive, excessive, erratic, or contradictory.
Due to Shane Dawson’s sensitivity and irrepressible imagination, he sometimes has trouble distinguishing dreams from reality. Although his bubbling imagination provides an abundant source of inspiration for creative or spiritual evolution, it tends to be less helpful and positive in matters that concern his self-assertion as responsible and self-sufficient. In a relationship, he is extremely romantic and does not always see others the way they really are.
Love and Sensuality:
Shane Dawson enjoys captivating people with the elegance and ease of his expression. He is a witty and engaging flirt, an avid player of the game of love. As a result, the history of his affections is liable to be episodic, a long series of chapters about conquests or fleeting love affairs. He may carry on some love relationships by writing letters.
Shane Dawson’s birth chart indicates an emotional function which is expressed in a direct and fairly impulsive way. He enjoys reaching out to other people and making discoveries. An eternal teenager with his gaze riveted on the future, he is imbued with an eminently subjective and personal idealism.
As a result of this conflict between the conscious, active, masculine principle of Shane Dawson’s psyche and the unconscious, passive, feminine principle, Shane Dawson is continually subject to nervous tension, which wears him out and exhausts him. Shane Dawson’s mind and body are always feverishly active. Shane Dawson always tends to do too much, to become obsessed with insignificant details, or to panic when faced with the unexpected. Shane Dawson is likely to marry a partner younger than he is, either chronologically or in terms of their sense of duty. But perhaps Shane Dawson’s second marriage will be more reasonable and satisfying.
Shane Dawson does not always form lasting attachments, and he finds that new loves give him a sense of self-renewal. He is extremely affectionate, especially verbally. He is usually attracted to people with whom he can share his ideas but will be galvanized by a person who is fleeting, elusive, or impossible to grasp. In any case, his love life will not always be simple and straightforward.
Mental and Intellect:
Shane Dawson’s intellect, which is simultaneously subjective and sensitive, acute and intuitive, always practical and deeply rooted in human experience, predisposes him to a people-oriented activity. With his memory and imagination combined with his shrewdness, he would be a gifted project manager, businesswoman, or scholar of history or literature.
Shane Dawson expresses his thoughts and ideas in direct, spontaneous outbursts. He is fairly extroverted and eager to discover and understand the outer world. An idealist, he looks forward to a bright future but is sometimes subjective and reckless.
Shane Dawson has a great deal of intuition but sometimes has problems organizing his thought processes and making an intellectual commitment. The concepts of boundary and structure are inimical to his mind, which is open and all-encompassing, premonitory, and web-like. His thoughts may be verbally indeterminate, vague, and ill defined. He tends to understand or sense things globally, without always noticing their component parts. Usually, he can’t see the trees for the forest.
In daily life, although his perceptions are lively and subtle, he may display a kind of absent-mindedness out of a fear of annoying people with his shrewdness or of fighting to assert himself. His imagination sometimes escapes from the confines of logic, cringing from a confrontation with reality. This unwillingness to face the real world may cause relationship or career challenges.
