Consciousness and The Ideal of Self:
Nick Bencivengo is trying to overcome his feelings of insecurity. To do so, he needs a home: a dwelling, a territory, or perhaps a safe space or setting where he can rest, and let down his systems of defense against the outer world, which he finds aggressive and hostile. He is ready to make some sacrifices in order to maintain and consolidate the structure he has chosen. True inner security, based on real knowledge of himself, his abilities, and his shortcomings, his strengths and his weaknesses would no doubt be most effective and would allow him to remain open to the varieties of experience offered by the world.
Nick Bencivengo has great strength of character. His courage and endurance enable him to accomplish even extremely arduous tasks. Although he sometimes behaves impulsively, he generally knows how to plan out an effective strategy, and, as a result, he reaches his goals without meeting any major obstacles. His forcefulness gives him certain leadership skills, which he may implement to creative and constructive ends.
Nick Bencivengo is sober and reserved and may even strike people as rigid and austere at times. Perhaps he was raised in an atmosphere of rigor and sobriety as a child, and, as a result, became an adult a little too fast. In any case, he quickly acquired a spirit of self-sufficiency and a strong sense of his personal dignity and worth. At work, he is skillful, meticulous, conscientious, and efficient, but his lack of self confidence and personal assurance hinder his decision-making skills. Although he would deserve a prominent executive position, he might refuse any that are offered due to his fear of being in the limelight. He is aware that early success is often short-lived and fragile and that time rewards those who are patient, which, in his case, is true. The psychological mechanisms described above are probably the result of a paternal complex. In childhood, his identity may have been too strongly attached to that of his father or a father figure, for one of the following reasons:
– the bond with his father was too close,
– his father was absent and/or idealized,
– his father was too strict, etc.
In any case, this psychological particularity can act either as a handicap or as an opportunity for the individual to overcome yourself. It will result in two groups of opposite but complementary reactions which will rule his behavior all his life:
– hypersensitivity or insensitivity
– intense life wish or discomfort with life
– obsession or renunciation
– skepticism or fanaticism
– asceticism or lust
– jealousy or indifference
– effort or laziness
The so-called “Saturnian” phases (at age 7, 14, 21, 28 or 29, and 35 years) will be transitional periods that give him an opportunity to resolve this complex in real life.
Nick Bencivengo enjoys sharing and has a constant need for contact with other people. He tends to be free and uninhibited in his relations with other people, rarely allowing himself to be influenced by convention or prevailing opinion; he associates with whomever he pleases. This attitude makes his life refreshing and exciting, and he is never bored. In career terms, he is quite gifted for any field related to communication, where his intellectual singularity and lively wit would make him an amazing hit. He would also be likely to succeed in any activity where the work required a multidisciplinary approach: teaching, advertising, politics, etc.
Adaptation and Sensitivity:
Nick Bencivengo is pragmatic and realistic. He evaluates people and things according to practical, common-sense criteria instead of abstract concepts. A sensualist and lover of luxury, he has a penchant for material comfort and take great joy in physical pleasures. In relation to others, socially and privately, he likes to build stable relationships and are not especially fond of change. His warmth gives him a great deal of ease when meeting people, as clients (for business purposes), but his close relations also benefit from this affection and his ability to express his feelings naturally and openly.
Nick Bencivengo is an expansive, affable, and communicative associate. Indeed, some people find him generous almost to a fault! He gives of himself and his resources unstintingly. Paradoxically, there are times when he is self-focused. He reacts instinctively, without taking the trouble to analyze a given situation, and is prone to misjudge. As a result, his everyday life may be riddled with a whole variety of practical problems. Indeed, he senses a conflict between his social life and his family and will sometimes find it hard to fulfill himself in both spheres at the same time. His attitude toward his private life may inhibit his ambitions for social or career expansion; at worst, society (the law) may impinge on his private life. He should be careful not to project his personal problems onto his partner. If, instead, he analyzes the problem together, he could find opportunities to resolve it together.
Due to Nick Bencivengo’s sensitivity and irrepressible imagination, he sometimes has trouble distinguishing dreams from reality. Although his bubbling imagination provides an abundant source of inspiration for creative or spiritual evolution, it tends to be less helpful and positive in matters that concern his self-assertion as responsible and self-sufficient. In a relationship, he is extremely romantic and does not always see others the way they really are.
Love and Sensuality:
Nick Bencivengo enjoys captivating people with the elegance and ease of his expression. He is a witty and engaging flirt, an avid player of the game of love. As a result, the history of his affections is liable to be episodic, a long series of chapters about conquests or fleeting love affairs. He may carry on some love relationships by writing letters.
Nick Bencivengo’s birth chart indicates an emotional function which is expressed in a direct and fairly impulsive way. He enjoys reaching out to other people and making discoveries. An eternal teenager with his gaze riveted on the future, he is imbued with an eminently subjective and personal idealism.
Nick Bencivengo will emerge from an inhibited adolescence to become a person who knows what they want. They are quite possessive, and their likes and dislikes are strong and forthright. As time passes, their home and possibly children, to which they would be deeply attached, will become their focus.
Nick Bencivengo is fairly indecisive about his emotions. Although he has engaged in a variety of experiments in order to know himself and his preferences better, he might still find himself unable to make a commitment. He tends to be somewhat happy-go-lucky, yielding to whatever opportunity circumstances present, and may maintain several relationships simultaneously. It may not necessarily be easy for him to establish a lasting commitment, but it is not impossible.
Nick Bencivengo may be characterized by strong sensual and affectionate urges which drive him to seek pleasure. His need for romantic fulfillment may compel him to marry, because he also seeks the legal and social legitimacy the institution of marriage confers on an emotional bond. Indeed, the household is liable to be prosperous and even opulent, as if this offered further evidence that he had indeed achieved success. However, privately, he might be less committed to certain obligations and duties.
Nick Bencivengo has a great emotional ideal, full of subtlety and tenderness. However, he tends to be overwhelmed by his imagination and may not be selective enough when choosing a partner. His romantic and trusting nature may make him vulnerable. Although he strives to establish peaceful, uncomplicated relations, he sometimes experiences painful disappointments. His artistic delicacy and refinement provide him with a sincere love of the arts, music, and literature. He is likely to be a gifted poet.
From the outside, Nick Bencivengo seems to be detached and aloof, but on the inside he is an extremely complex individual, full of contradictions. Because he sometimes feels vulnerable emotionally, he tries to control not only his own feelings and urges, but may also strive to manipulate those of his partners. He aspires to a profound and enduring spiritual unity, but at the same time, the idea of abandoning himself and yielding to the other terrifies him. This anguish may be a source of rather extreme behavior patterns and a somewhat self-focused attitude which could damage the relationship. Because he is guarded and somewhat secretive, he tends to be suspicious and is especially uneasy about spontaneous intimacy, although he is fascinated by sexuality. Within the privacy of the couple, he will not express his feelings unless he is subject to some tension. Life may be peppered with frequent crises and feuds, arguments and spats which usually act as erotic provocation. This derivation of eroticism from anxiety tends to be one of the fundamental characteristics of his emotional and sexual functioning. As a result, he is likely to be attracted by stormy and complicated relationships.
Mental and Intellect:
Nick Bencivengo has a lively wit which gives him great agility and scope and a broad field of consciousness which enlivens his curiosity and makes him love variety and change. His mind is alert and his speech is full of verve, humor, and sometimes impudence. These abilities are great resources in communication, discussion, and debate. He is a storehouse of information and ideas of every kind and delights in manipulating words and concepts, discovering new things, and sharpening his memory for trivial facts. This mental agitation could sometimes make him scattered, however, or lacking in coherence and discipline.
Nick Bencivengo expresses his thoughts and ideas in direct, spontaneous outbursts. He is fairly extroverted and eager to discover and understand the outer world. An idealist, he looks forward to a bright future but is sometimes subjective and reckless.
In relations with other people, Nick Bencivengo’s behavior is usually kind and benevolent. He exerts a certain charm, knows how to speak persuasively and convincingly, and is adept at smoothing the asperities of what he has to say when it is necessary. This aspect of his personality is a great advantage to him socially; however, in situations where he must either compete or deal with direct conflict and hostility, he may be somewhat at a loss for how to behave.
Nick has an undeniable gift for oratory which could be applied to a communications-related occupation or to artistic expression (as a stage or screen actor). Writing and dance, two other arts which associate expression and movement, might also be fields in which he would excel.
